Teal Choi는 한국예술종합학교 멀티미디어영상과 예술사를 졸업하고, 동대학 멀티미디어영상과 전문사 과정에 재학 중이다. 테크니컬 아티스트로 Lostair(프로젝트해시태그), 서울스테이지 11, The PATCH clinic 등 여러 프로젝트에 함께 협업하여 국내외 공연 및 전시에 참여하며, 커뮤니케이션을 주제로 하는 비주얼 베이스의 인터랙티브 미디어 작업에 비중을 뒀다. 현재는 소통을 구성하는 언어에 관심을 두고 기표와 기의에 대한 시적 관계성을 실험하며, 구체시(concrete poem)와 상호작용하는 음악적 구성에 관심을 두고 있다.
Teal Choi graduated with a degree in Multimedia from the Korea National University of Arts, where she is currently pursuing her MFA in the Department of Multimedia, including Media Art and Art Philosophy part. As a technical artist, she has collaborated on various projects such as Lostair (Project Hashtag), Seoul Stage 11, and The PATCH Clinic, participating in exhibitions and performances both in Korea and abroad. Her work focuses on visual-based interactive media centered around themes of communication. Currently, she is exploring the poetic relationship between the signifier and the signified, with a deep interest in the languages that shape communication. She is particularly drawn to the intersection of concrete poetry and interactive musical structures.
Interested in the material aspects of digital, Teal has been constantly contemplating the origins of her digital signals and how to continue its vitality in real world. She crosses multiple sensory channels, and tries reality beyond the confines of the screen. The subject has been going on, still in the middle of a journey to find her own answers. The flow from digital inevitably intersects with analog elements such as the human body, soundscape, botany, and more—areas that have previously been outside her scope. As she observes the fabulous algorithms embedded within them, she actively searches for contexts to gather these systemic components. These elements serve as the foundational inspiration for her current artistic pursuits.
